Food is meant to be enjoyed, and to truly enjoy food is to enjoy food that is good, clean, and fair for all. I strongly believe that savoring food and ensuring its production harmed no soil, water, air, human, or animal is the best way to sustain our own personal health and the health of Mother Earth.
I recognize this idyllic vision of harmony with Earth and food is not easily achieved. There is no simple solution for the problems plaguing our complex food system, but that shouldn't scare us from trying to find one!
It's my mission to help the citizens of our world become better stewards of this planet by living the vision of a good, clean, and fair food system. Supporting local food producers and engaging with your neighbors are great ways to begin this.
I am currently completing a Masters in World Food Cultures and Mobility at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Bra, Italy. This summer I was an intern at Coveyou Scenic Farm in Petoskey, Michigan, helping keep fresh organic produce available for the community and tell the story of the farm's 145 year history.
